Oliver Sacks: What hallucination reveals about our minds.

I chose this video because i find it interesting and i think it's important for us to know about the Charles Bonnet syndrome. Ok, this video tells us about how blinded or visually impaired people experience lucid hallucinations very often. It is normal that visually impaired people have these hallucinations, but they might be afraid to tell people about this because they don’t want people to tell they’re crazy or something. Usually, doctors don’t know about this syndrome so they can make a bad diagnostic. That’s the reason why we should spread what we know about the Charles Bonnet syndrome.

My talents.

My talent is to paint and draw. Here are some examples of what can I do:

I do it when I have free time. However, sometimes my homework is to make some draws or paintings. I need inspiration to it and materials like special pencils, papers… Most of the time I do it because I want to or I feel like doing it, but sometimes I have to make it because it’s an university work.  When I was a child I used to make some painting to my teachers and my grandparents. I can tell that they loved it when I make draws or painting for them.

These are some of my digital works;

Alex.

He’s Alex. He’s my russian friend.
Actually, he was born in Kazakhstan but he moved to Omsk when he was a child. He is 17 years old. He lives with his grandparents and his mother. He’s studying languages because he wants to become an interpreter. He likes to play the guitar, he passed me some demos I would like to post but I’ll wait for his approval. He
is not afraid of heights.
He’s really open-minded and he doesn’t have any stereotypes about us. He likes the same kind of music that I like (: Also, he likes to read philosophical books. Sometimes it’s really hard to talk because of the difference of hour.

Living in a green way.

I think we all are conscious about the problem the world is suffering right now, but we don’t do anything. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because we like to be confortable and making changes is a difficult thing to do when we are confortable in the way we’re living, but we have to make these changes in order to make the world a better place. In my opinion, here in Maracaibo we have lots of cars, like two or three cars per family, why can’t we share the car with our friends? Or people that live close to us? It is a good way of reducing the pollution that cars make.  We can star in our own house; we can disconnect the cellphones’ chargers. We can reuse the paper. In my case, I reuse all the papers I have when I do my classwork. Remember: whatever you do, IT DOES COUNT.

Memories.

When i was a child i used to go every Sunday to my grandma’s house and spend the afternoon there. I played with my cousins and eat delicious food when I stayed in there. My family and I used to travel a lot; we have visited almost all the country. I remember the trips we made to Margarita. They were special and I cherish every second we stayed there. At the age of 10 I moved to Puerto La Cruz –another city in Venezuela-. I made some good friends in PLC, I’m still in touch with them and I can say that they are my best friends. When I was 13 my sister Val came to the world. When I was 14 I moved to Maracaibo, I have to say that I was really happy because I missed all my family, especially my grandma  and my old friends. I used to go to the movies with my friends a lot, now we don’t talk to each other often… but we do talk.

SL with Piera and Fabi

The day before the first term exam Piera, Fabi and I went into SL to try to talk in English with each other. We went to the Realm of Maracaibo, The mist. Then I took them to Paris in the 1900s to tell them what we did yesterday.
Trying to speak english with each other~

We changed our outfits~

;D~

Changes

So, we talked about changes and here there are the changes i would like to make:

When I get graduated from Urbe I would like to move to Quebec, get a really good job and make a lot of money. I’d like to lose some weight, let my hair grow and stop biting my nails.

My heroes.

My personal hero is my grandmother. She’s from Venezuela. I live with her since I was a child so she’s kinda my mom. She has always been there for me and helped me in all the little things I needed.  She taught me that I have to fight for everything I wanted and help people if they need help.

My local hero is an organization called Asodepa. It is from Venezuela and it defends animal rights.

Mahatma Gandhi is my hero from the past because of his actions. He’s from India. He was pre-eminent political and ideological leader of India during the Indian independence movement. He set a country free fighting without violence. He taught us to fight in a pacific way, the way goodhearted people must fight.

My modern hero is Romero Britto. He’s from Brazil. He’s an artistic activist for charitable organizations. In his art he reflects all the optimism that he has. Britto is committed supporting the powerful role of art in world issues.

Paris in the 1900s.

Today in SL we went to Paris in the 1900s. First, we met with CyberPlacebo at Notre Dame which is the cathedral of the Catholic Archdiocese of Paris. CyberPlacebo is an English teacher. She was born in France but she’s living in New Zealand, she has a lovely accent. Omg, I just loved it so much. She introduced us to Paris in the 1900s. We cahnged our oufits to enter in the 1900s atmosphere. CyberPlacebo guided us to the Moulin Rouge where we can dance French cancan ;D Then we went to the Moulin de la Galette. In there we saw a lot of paintings, photographs and history articles. After that, we finally went to La Tour Eiffel, we learnt a little bit about the history of the tower, we saw more amazing paintings in the tower. I think I’m starting to love SL a little bit more, I just had so much fun with the teachers and Manuel ;D He always joins me when I’m in.

Second Life

I had fun being there with the teacher and the others  ;D It was kinda awkward at first but then it was funny to chat with them. We made a tutorial –we’re not noobs anymore- we learnt a little bit more about SL and the things we can make in there and so…

I spent like 3 hours in SL, I met PinkSamurai Fairlady, she’s so kind, she’s from Egypt but she’s living in Dubai. She made us dance Thriller and she showed us pretty interesting things. She took me to Cypris Village and she gave me a microbycicle and then she took me ice skating. Aww it was a really nice experience.
Here we are Manuel and I dancing Thriller~

Baby, you're a firework.

This is a really meaningful video, it has such an amazing message! It inspires me. When i watched this video, for the very first time, i felt like i could do anything i really wanted to. I think it tells us that we have so much to give in this life and we just need to let it go and be ourselves without any worries about being judge just for being what we truly are. And by being ourselves we can shine like a firework.

Welcome to my blog :3

I love cats. I don't have one though, saddly.
Well, this is my new blog, i'll post some of my homework from my English class. I'm on level 4 and i really like the idea to create a blog and post in another language besides my firts language which is spanish. It's so creative D: And it totally is a new way to practice my english.

My name is Veronica, you can call me Vero. I'm 18, i'm from Maracaibo, Venezuela. It's a very hot place and I wish it could be more fresh :'c but despite all the heat, i really love my city and my country.
I'm a graphic design student at URBE.
I love chocolate, tea and coffee ;D They complement my life. I love to walk and listen to music. I like to spend my weekend watching movies and series. I don't think i truly hate something or someone. I just don't like onions very much ;D And i can't stand lies. I'm a very peaceful person, quite shy actually.

My dream is to move to Quebec, Canada, and have a better life there. I would like to travel to Paris, London, Dublin and Dubai :D And take lots of pictures.

My opinion about English: well, i think it's an easy language, you can learn fast if you just practice it. The vocabulary is easy to remember. Sometimes i get bored of it, but with this new way to practice it i don't think I’ll get bored anymore.
